THESSALY. Pharsalos. Late 5th-mid 4th century BC. Drachm (Silver, 20 mm, 5.94 g, 12 h), signed by Telephantos and Th.... Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with Sphinx springing left; behind neck, T above Θ. Rev. Φ-A/P-Σ Thessalian cavalryman riding horse prancing to right, wearing petasos, chlamys and chiton, and brandishing a lagobolon with his right hand. BCD Thessaly II 645 (same obverse die). HGC 4, 626. Lavva 144 (V68/R84). A rare variety. Harshly cleaned and with minor marks, otherwise, nearly very fine.
